I know… I missed another Thursday and Friday last week. Maybe I should change my posts to #EveryOtherThursdayWriteUp and #EveryOtherFridaySnippets? Anyway, what a couple of weeks it’s been! I’ve made good progress on a couple of my “secret” (and soon to be revealed) projects and better progress on my priority projects. Not only that, but I even posted to my blog outside of #FridaySnippets and #ThursdayWriteUp! I’ll tell you about that in just a minute, along with some other exciting news. I want to get to my famous bullet list before the A.D.D. kicks in. 😉 Here’s the breakdown of my activity for the last two weeks: Wrote about 2,500 words on WIP Worked on more music Started designing a sofa table Almost blew up my laptop Contemplated snow zombies Lost about ten pounds (that’s short for “I only lost about 8 pounds. I shouldn’t have eaten the whole pack of Oreo’s. *sigh*”) Picked for “Klema On The Road” Fed the cat Okay! Got that out of the way! Last Saturday it FINALLY snowed here! Now, it … Continue reading
The struggle is finally over! I am officially “plugged in” now. How do I know that? Because I spent most of yesterday fixing things that plug in. And that is as deep as I’m going to go in order to make excuses explain why my #ThursdayWriteUp post is a day late this week. 😉 That said, I will leave you with another bullet list of what’s been keeping me busy so I can get to my #FridaySnippets post, hopefully, before lunch. In the last two weeks I have: Re-purposed my netbook exclusively for writing by removing all things Microsoft in favor of a couple of Linux OS’s (faster, more stable and MUCH better battery life). Gained ten pounds (again). Watched all 14 episodes of “Firefly” and the movie (a continuation of the story) “Serenity” on Netflix. Completely jacked up a groin muscle somehow. Re-purposed a scrap of 2″ x 4″ as a walking stick. Crunched numbers for one of my “secret” projects. Lost five pounds (again). Wrote/re-wrote a few scenes between my three primary fiction projects. Spent … Continue reading
Wow, I just realized how cool it would have been if I had jumped back in to my #ThursdayWriteUp routine last week. “#ThursdayWriteUp #13 – 1/3/13” I KNOW! Oh well, I guess I should be happy enough that I survived the end of the world. That being the case, there’s much to do in 2013 and, sorry, no resolutions this year. This week I’ve spent most of my time sorting through all that I left alone by unplugging for the holidays. Re-organizing notes, lists and scraps with scribbles on them. I also spent about half a day attacking my email in-boxes (word of advice: If you plug in at all while on vacation, use that time to keep your “unread mail” number from climbing into the thousands). I took a little time to see what folks have posted on their social media sites and doing a bit of research for my projects. As far as the projects go, I’ve tapped out a few words this week but not enough to brag about. Most of my week was … Continue reading
I’m such a slacker. Well, when it comes to proving my absolute dedication to social media and blogging lately. Aside from this post – Blissful Moments – #532 – I’ve been almost non-existent on the internet going on two months now and, though I miss interacting with many of the wonderful people, I’m not feeling too bad about it. To clarify, I’ll give you another one of my bullet lists. I don’t feel bad about being scarce on the Internet lately because: I’ve accomplished much more in the last two months than any other THREE months in 2012. That’s all. I just feel that it takes at least two points to make a bullet list. Yeah, I’m one of “those”. I know, I know… I’m missing the whole point of having a “platform” in the digital world these days, right? Actually, I’m not. I’m simply not missing the point of having something worthwhile to place on that platform. Which brings me to my #ThursdayWriteUp for this past week month. I signed up for NaNoWriMo this year and … Continue reading
Hey everyone, I’m back! (for now) Yeah, it’s been a few weeks since I’ve posted anything but hey, life happens, right? There are a few reasons and, since most of them still apply at the moment, you get bullet list today! 😉 Writing stuff Away from Internet connection (& stuff). Holiday season stuff Writing stuff NaNoWriMo stuff (yes, I’m still making an attempt even though I haven’t logged on to post progress since day 1) Music stuff Re-decorating stuff Writing stuff Secret project stuff Music stuff Travel stuff And a bunch of other stuff That’s it in a nutshell. On topic, I’ve written quite a bit for both “Boots” and “Bodies” and it seems the latter is gaining ground on the #1 priority campaign between the two. I’ve also done a bit for my NaNoWriMo effort, but haven’t put it all on my little laptop here to get an actual word count. I’d guess I’m somewhere between 10k 15k words so far. Not too impressive but I’m going to keep trying for that 50k mark. My “secret” … Continue reading
This week’s been, at best, a semi-productive week for my writing WIP’s. I’ve done some character building for “Bodies” and spent a few hours (total) working on the maps for the story. With the new characters I realized that the old maps didn’t work too well, so I broke out the heavy equipment and moved some roads and relocated a few folks. Boots received some attention this week in bits and pieces. No new chapters or full scenes, but quite a few little snippets tacked on to unfinished parts with a few prospective scenes thrown in. I expect to dedicate at least one full day, if not more, to this project over the next week. I would have liked to have a higher word count for the week but I’ve already found a bit of inspiration with the new landscape. To put it simply – If I take the time to transfer what’s bouncing around in my head into words over the next week, I could bring my average weekly word count on this project to a … Continue reading
WOW! What a productive and creative week! “Yeah? SWEET! What’s your phenomenal word count?” You ask? Somewhere between one and two thousand. I know, not too impressive for a full-time writer. Especially for one that just took a week or two off! Well, after the time off (and then my frantic effort to get back to the grind) I’ve finally made it back to my normal level of productivity. In last week’s #ThursdayWriteUp I mentioned that I had started a new project that I was keeping secret for now. To clear things up, there are actually a few small projects and a couple of big ones. Of those, only a couple are slotted to become books. The others? Um… if I told you they wouldn’t be secret, would they? Suffice it to say that I’ve reevaluated my current efforts and have decided to revive some of my recently neglected skills, talents and passions to inspire and support my work. If you know me personally, you’ve probably got a pretty good idea of what I’m getting into here. … Continue reading
I almost skipped my #ThursdayWriteUp two weeks ago because I had spent much of the week on things other than writing. I did spend some of that time writing, but mostly things other than my “official” projects. A little poetry, a few songs and some less than creative but necessary scribbling and figuring to keep my life in balance outside of the artistic realm. So what happened to last week’s #ThursdayWriteUp? Well, during my little break I spent some time thinking about my normal writing schedule and realized that most of the things that were distracting me were not things like finances, yard work, home repairs or the desire to take some “me time”. Care to take a guess what took first place in that contest? Time’s up. And the winner is: My writing schedule. Okay, probably not the schedule itself, but that it was a little vague and lacked structure where priority and limits were concerned. I’m still working on it but, to give you an idea of how it’s worked for me that last couple … Continue reading
I almost decided to skip this week’s #ThursdayWriteUp post since I’ve been so busy getting back into the swing of things after taking a short break. Obviously, I’ve changed my mind but I still have a busy day ahead so it’s going to be a short one. Enjoy it while you can because Winter’s coming and I get pretty long-winded when I’m cooped up for long periods of time. 😉 My creative progress this week: Two days spent primarily working on my music (including a performance at a little place while I was on the road Monday and Tuesday). A handful of new ideas scribbled in my note pad. Some for current projects, some for possible future works. Re-read what I have so far for my two primary writing efforts, “Boots” and “Bodies”, which produced a list of new ideas for both. Tapped out a small collection of snippets that will most likely be finished as songs or, if the music doesn’t come, poetry. Increased my total word count for my fiction efforts by a few thousand. … Continue reading
“In order to write about life first you must live it.” ― Ernest Hemingway Happy Thursday everyone! I’m finally done with hotel coffee for a bit! After traversing six states over the last couple of weeks, I’ve finally made it back to my own coffee pot. I’m not sure what they think you’re suppose to do with just one little teabag sized coffee pouch in hotel rooms but thankfully housekeeping was kind enough to give up a few extra per day. And that concludes my list of positive things to say about the hotels on this trip. I’ll refrain from a full hotel review on this post but, since I brought it up, I’ll give you a short version. Now, I’m not one to stay in “fancy” hotels but I definitely try to book rooms in places that at least offer the benefits, conveniences and hospitality that keep a place from being called a MOtel. Sadly, these places were barely fit for either name. To keep from turning this into a rant I’ll just give you a … Continue reading
