#ThursdayWriteUp 4 – Labor Day Lazy

Ah, what a week!

Since Thursdays are my “Friday” normally, my #ThursdayWriteUp week began with a holiday. To the point, I didn’t work over the weekend. Not to say that I didn’t write. I just didn’t hold myself to hard expectations.

I celebrated Labor Day by ignoring my white board, calendar, bullet lists and the little scraps of paper that take up the remaining 90% of my organizational toolbox. I boycotted structure and professional obedience. I allowed only artistic inspiration to lead me to the keyboard.

Yep, I lounged on the couch, watched movies, and ate bad food for a couple of days. Don’t worry, I remembered to feed the cat.

I was also able to take a few minutes to finish Rayne Hall’s (@RayneHall) “Six Scary Tales”. Expect a post about my thoughts on it in the near future (HINT: Buy it now.), but for now all I have to say is that Rayne definitely has a dark side. I’ll be starting the second book in that series in the next week or so.

Amazingly, through all that laziness, it’s been a fairly productive writing week.

I was able to fill in some timeline gaps, tap out few rough scenes and find points of entry for new characters in “Boots”. I also worked on the maps a little more because the new characters also add new locations.

“Bodies” (see #FridaySnippets 1 & 3) has officially taken priority over “Armoth Ridge” at this point and was given some attention this week. The foundation for that story is almost complete along with a few proposed characters and scenes. I’m not sure why, but it seems like it’s kicked the “organized me” into a higher gear for all of my projects. I’m getting pretty excited about this one.

Not that I need more projects on my plate at the moment, but I did jot down some notes for a couple of new non-fiction works. The rest of my non-fiction progress for the week amounts to a few thoughts scribbled about “Coming from Bliss”.

BONUS WRITING PROGRESS THIS WEEK: Songs and poems! Just a few and extremely rough at that. I may post some of them after I get back to them and clean them up enough for public consumption, but for now they were a great way to relax for the holiday week.

What was your week like?

Let me know in the comment section below and, if you’re on Twitter, every week at the #ThursdayWriteUp. I’d love to hear from you!

Have a great week and thanks for spending time with me!
